Samira Kennedy
Samira is a junior at Harvard College concentrating in Neuroscience, (Mind, Brain, and Behavior track) with a secondary in government. She is also on the Track and Field and Cross Country teams at Harvard. Since she was a kid, she was told that the key to balancing athletics and school always centered around sleep. However, as her interest in the sleep and recovery grew, she realized that there were gaps in sleep research when it came to the mechanisms behind sleep and recovery and why they are so intertwined. Throughout college, her curiosity about sleep expanded into how it could take part in emotional regulation and the development of certain psychiatric disorders which is an area she realized was also understudied but incredibly important. This led her to join the Center for Sleep and Cognition to be able to understand and answer some of these questions. In her free time, she enjoys playing sports with friends, exploring new cities, and discovering cute coffee shops.
