Lydia Lu graduated from Northeastern University in 2026 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Mathematics and a Minor in French. She ultimately hopes to pursue a career in medicine, with a particular heart for communities that remain on the outskirts of the health care system.

Lydia’s interest in sleep began with her own experience with significant sleep difficulties throughout high school and college. This journey, alongside her fascination with the mind-body connection, has inspired her to learn more about the role of sleep in mental and physical health. Through her work in the Sleep and Cognition Center, she hopes to better understand sleep disorders and ultimately contribute to improving the lives of those affected by them.

Outside of the laboratory, Lydia cares deeply about serving Boston’s unhoused community, deepening her Christian faith, and spending time with the people she loves. In her free time, she often finds herself in the swimming pool, buried in a mystery or historical fiction novel, or behind the wheel of her stick shift car!
