Geethika Atmakuri
Geethika is a second-year undergraduate student at the University of Georgia majoring in Biomedical Physiology on the pre-med track. After participating in the MIT Hackathon during her first year, she was introduced to nerve stimulation techniques such as tDCS and eTNS, which sparked her interest in how electrical stimulation can influence brain activity. Since then, she has wanted to better understand how these approaches could be applied in a clinical setting. She joined the Center for Sleep and Cognition to be able to better understand how neuromodulation can be used to influence brain activity during sleep, particularly in relation to cognition and neurological conditions. She is especially interested in understanding how changes in neural activity during sleep can be measured and potentially guided through stimulation.
In her free time, she loves to read (currently reading Dark Matter by Blake Crouch), meet new friends, and explore cafés!
