Doyen Kim

Originally from Seoul, South Korea, I completed my training in clinical psychology in the United States and am currently in my internship year as a clinical psychology predoctoral intern on the neuropsychology track. In this role, I divide my time between providing intervention and assessment to individuals with serious mental illness at MMHC and conducting neuropsychological assessments in the Department of Psychiatry at BIDMC.

I am especially interested in the relationship between sleep and cognition given its importance for understanding brain-behavior relationships. Sleep is critical for memory, attention, and executive functioning, yet disturbances are highly prevalent in neurological and psychiatric populations. Studying how sleep problems contribute to or interact with neuropathology can improve the accuracy of neuropsychological assessment and highlight modifiable factors that enhance cognitive outcomes. I am particularly drawn to research examining how sleep may influence the link between brain structure, cognition, and clinical outcomes, as this work bridges neuroscience with clinical application and advances evidence-based practice.

Outside of the lab, I enjoy hiking, reading, yoga, and listening to music on my record player.
