Dean Ibrahim
Dean is a rising second-year student at Haverford College, majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Health Studies. He became interested in sleep research through his experiences balancing academics with the physical demands of being a varsity athlete. Seeing how strongly sleep influences his focus, energy, recovery, and performance made him interested in the broader role it plays in brain health and everyday functioning. His academic interests center on the ways sleep, stress, and daily behaviors shape cognition and mental well-being. At the Center for Sleep and Cognition, Dean is excited to explore how disrupted sleep affects the brain and how accessible, non-invasive approaches might improve sleep and cognitive functioning in people with neurological conditions.
At Haverford, Dean competes on the varsity squash team and serves on the fundraising committee for Partners In Health Engage. In his free time, Dean enjoys playing sports, supporting FC Barcelona and Boston sports teams, and traveling while trying new cuisines.
